Getting Rid Of Mosquito Bites
Getting rid of mosquito bites quickly is a priority if they itch a lot or are unsightly and obvious. Mosquito
bites are normally red and itchy and look pretty awful if dotted all over the legs. There are plenty of products on
the market for getting rid of mosquito bites but there are also lots of home, natural remedies. Which bite
treatment you use primarily depends on whether you treat the bites as soon as you are bitten or the next day. Some
remedies work better for some people than others, so you may have to try a few to find the right one for you.
Getting Rid Of Mosquito Bites
It looks really bad if you are sitting at the pool in your luxury hotel on holiday and your legs and arms are
covered in inflamed red blotches. It is embarrassing, so many people worry about getting rid of mosquito bites. If
the insect bite is fresh, home remedies are usually good enough.
It is important to know that it is the mosquito's saliva that is causing the problem, so if you can get that
out, you will not have a problem. Thais will slap the bite to squash the saliva out, others will use a straw to
suck the saliva out. An ice cube rubbed on the insect bite will cause the skin to constrict which may squeeze it
out. Lemon juice may do it too. As may any astringent or antihistamine.
If you do not catch the bite immediately, there are creams like Tiger Balm for getting rid of mosquito bites,
some also say that bicarbonate of soda works on the pain and itch too.
Home Remedies For Mosquito Bites
There are dozens of home remedies for mosquito bites. Rubbing an ice cube directly on the bite is common all
around the world, so is putting sticky tape or duct tape over it. Other people rub aloe vera or the inside of a
banana skin on to the bite.
Some say that vinegar works. The thing about home remedies for mosquito bites is that most of them work for some
people but not for all people. So if you want to try home remedies for mosquito bites, you may need to try a few
before you find one that works for you.
Mosquito Bite Scars
There is one golden rule if you do not want mosquito bite scars, no scratching the bites! It is very tempting to
scratch the pain and swelling, but it does not do any good. When scratching a mosquito bite, the problem normally
comes from dirt under the finger nails. This gets into the wounds and aggravates them or turns them sceptic,
resulting in mosquito bite scars.
The only real way to stop the scars is to prevent itching which means treating the bite as soon as it happens.
Applying ice to the bite is a common method of preventing itch and thereby mosquito bite scars, but best is not to
get bitten at all by applying mosquito repellent on your skin or clothes.
Stop Mosquito Bite Itch
In order to stop mosquito bite itch all together, you have to treat the insect wound as soon as you have been
bitten. There are many ways of doing this. Some people rub the affected area with an ice cube, while others say to
place a straw over the bite and suck the mosquito saliva out, because it is the saliva that causes the allergic
reaction of itching and swelling.
You can also stop mosquito bite itch and pain with commercial products. My favourite is 'Sam Bak' - a Thai
cream. Tiger Balm works very well at reducing the itching and swelling as well.
Natural Remedies For Mosquito Bites
There are many natural remedies for mosquito bites. In fact it seems that people in most countries where
mosquitoes are a problem have their favourite natural remedies for mosquito bites. For example, in Thailand many
people will slap the bite immediately after being bitten. They say it squeezes the bug 'poison' out. Other
favourite natural remedies for mosquito bites include aloe vera, banana skin and sticky tape.
